almost there… but some catching up first.

Hey Ozone fans,

Sorry. I’ve been super bad at updating. oopsie.

So… We had a bit of a disappointing finish at Labor Day (Sept 3-4 in Santa Cruz) – 6th… Format was 2 pools then semis/finals/placements. We lost big to Riot first thing on a cold foggy (typical) SC Saturday despite getting a bunch of Ds and having a lot of chances (offense looked a little fuzzy). Then barely beat a scrappy Further team from Oregon (lots of Soph’s friends). Then lost at DGP to Molly Brown in a up/downwind game – lots of chances here to score including a chance to score the game winner on DGP . No breaks by either team in the 2nd half… This knocked us out of contention for the semis/finals. But we finished out our pool on Sunday w/ solid wins over Knockout and Zeitgeist. Then lost to Showdown in the 5/6 game kinda big. They came out strong w/ several points in a row, and we found it hard to recover. Fought hard, played ok D, but their around breaks and quick disc movement kept us a step behind. Our offense looked stagnant for some key games over the weekend, and our subcalling/strategery were a bit questionable at times. These motivated some closer inspection of what could be changed… and we’ve been addressing all those things since.

Sectionals: what a long Saturday in Chattanooga on Sept 17. We won! Then Kirsten Shell and some of our teammates helped host a 3hr STARS clinic for the college ladies playing in Div II. Then some more of our teammates partnered w/ Chain guys to coach the College All Star Game (and we also had Diesel out there playing in it) while the rest of us heckled and my dog tried to eat Russell. Fun times followed by delicious team dinner at a yummy Thai place.

gonna post a separate post for Regionals recap. Getting a lot done here in the A in prep for Nationals. Watch out world.
